Want to know that God Exists? Just Look Up.

Every once in a while, I get that fleeting thought; “Hey, what if God doesn’t really exist?” It never lasts very long, but I’m not real good with blind faith. That’s why I like tangible things I can bounce my faith off of. Next time you’re looking for a faith-booster, just look up. Here’s how the Psalmist put it.

The heavens tell of the glory of God. The skies display his marvelous craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. They speak without a sound or a word; their voice is silent in the skies; yet their message has gone out to all the earth, and their words to all the world. Psalms 19:1-4

The Psalmist was saying this; “If you want to know that God is real – just look up!” But he’s not the only one saying that.

Dr. Stephen Hocking is today’s foremost theoretical physicist. He said this about our universe; “The odds against a universe like ours emerging out of something like the big bang are enormous… I think clearly there are religious implications whenever you start to discuss the origins of the universe. There must be religious overtones.”

Just how enormous?

Dr. Roger Penrose is the mastermind behind the development of black hole theory. He claims that the odds of a universe like our exploding into the complex, perfectly balanced system we see around us is 1 in 10 billion to the 30th power.

That’s 1 chance in 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.

How about those odds? Can you imagine anyone going to Vegas and betting against odds like those? Nobody would drop a dime on those odds. Yet everyday, millions of people bet against those exact odds with their eternal state on the line by either denying the existence of God or living as if there were no God.

So, the next time you have questions about the reality of the creator – just look up into the night sky.
